Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator
Break down Etsy listing, transaction and payment processing fees to find your real profit per sale.
How to Use
- Enter your item price, quantity sold, and any shipping you charge the buyer.
- Enter your product cost, actual shipping cost, and any other per-sale costs like packaging.
- Review the fee rates — they're pre-filled with Etsy's standard US seller rates, but always check Shop Manager > Finances or etsy.com/legal/fees for your current, country-specific rates and edit any field that's different.
- Leave Offsite Ads and Other/regulatory fee at 0% unless they apply to this specific sale.
- The result shows every fee line separately, even at $0.00, plus your total costs, net profit, effective fee percentage, and profit margin.
Formula
- Gross revenue
- gross_revenue = item_price × quantity + shipping_charged
- Transaction fee
- transaction_fee = transaction_fee% ÷ 100 × gross_revenue
- Payment processing fee
- payment_processing_fee = payment_processing% ÷ 100 × gross_revenue + payment_processing_fixed
- Offsite Ads / other fee
- fee = fee% ÷ 100 × gross_revenue
- Total fees
- total_fees = listing_fee + transaction_fee + payment_processing_fee + offsite_ads_fee + other_fee
- Total costs
- total_costs = (product_cost × quantity) + actual_shipping_cost + other_costs + total_fees
- Net profit
- net_profit = gross_revenue − total_costs
Worked Example
Two $25 items with $5 shipping charged, $8 product cost each, standard US Etsy fee rates.
- Gross revenue: 25 × 2 + 5 = $55.00
- Transaction fee: 6.5% × $55.00 = $3.575 → $3.58
- Payment processing: 3% × $55.00 + $0.25 = $1.90
- Total fees: $0.20 + $3.575 + $1.90 = $5.675 → $5.68
- Product cost: 8 × 2 = $16.00
- Total costs: $16.00 + $4.00 + $1.00 + $5.675 = $26.675 → $26.68
- Net profit: $55.00 − $26.675 = $28.325 → $28.33
- Effective fee %: $5.675 ÷ $55.00 × 100 ≈ 10.32%
- Profit margin: $28.325 ÷ $55.00 × 100 = 51.5%
Result: Gross revenue: $55.00 / Total fees: $5.68 / Total costs: $26.68 / Net profit: $28.33 / Effective fee %: 10.32% / Profit margin: 51.5%
About This Tool
What this tool does
This calculator breaks down every fee Etsy charges on a sale — listing fee, transaction fee, payment processing fee, and optionally Offsite Ads or other regulatory fees — alongside your own product and shipping costs, to show your real net profit, effective fee percentage, and profit margin.
When to use it
Use it before listing a product to check whether your price actually leaves a worthwhile profit after Etsy's cut, or to compare how changing your price, shipping charge, or costs affects your bottom line.
What the result means
Every fee line is shown even when it's $0.00, so you can confirm a fee genuinely doesn't apply rather than wondering if it was left out. "Effective fee %" is your total fees as a share of gross revenue; "Profit margin" is net profit as a share of gross revenue — see the Profit Margin Calculator for more on what margin means.
Assumptions & limitations
All fee rate fields are plain, editable inputs pre-filled with Etsy's publicly published standard US seller rates at the time this tool was built (listing fee $0.20; transaction fee 6.5% of item price plus shipping; payment processing 3% + $0.25). Etsy changes these rates periodically and they differ for sellers based outside the US — this tool does not attempt to encode every country's rates, so Offsite Ads and the Other/regulatory fee default to 0% (off) rather than guessing a figure that may not apply to you. Always verify your current, country-specific rates in Etsy's Shop Manager under Finances, or at etsy.com/legal/fees, before relying on this for a real pricing decision. The listing fee and payment processing fixed fee apply once per listing/transaction; all other fees and costs scale with quantity where Etsy actually charges that way.
